A Review For 22-1191N (Nickel Finish)

First, don't expect this replica to operate EXACTLY like a working SAA clone. The cylinder pin is just for show (i.e. it doesn't appear as though the cylinder can be easily removed) and there isn't any gun oil in sight (so the mechanics probably won't be as smooth as a more genuine article). If you use caps, expect to be cleaning the cylinder and striker to maintain peak functionality.

NEVERTHELESS, for a replica that clocks in at under 100.00, this is DEFINITELY worth the price... SO worth it. You get half-cock/full-cock functionality, loading gate functionality, and trigger functionality; whether you're looking for something completely safe to practice loading/dry firing, gunspinning, or just something to play around with... this thing works like a charm! Some of the mechanisms might feel a bit stiff right out of the box, but with some persuasion, they'll work in no time (and then you'll be riding with the cavalry, figuratively speaking, that is).

Just a warning, don't expect any Colt branding (like the engraving ostensibly found on Umarex's CO2 replica); in fact, the only branding that I can see are the words "Denix" and "Made in Spain". The nickel finish is very attractive, but it can look a mite fake out of the box. I don't know if this is something that others would recommend, but I've found that rubbing used roll caps (like the kind you find at Wal-Mart) on the nickel finish allows it to maintain its lustre while lending to the realism.

By the way, get the Denix Dummy Cartridges (22-001) to go with this! I personally would advise against going with the recommended Denix Cap Shells (22-49), as I had two break VERY quickly out of the box. Don't get me wrong, the 22-49s are a neat idea, but they seem to have a critical, unforeseen design flaw that allows them to slide too far back and out of the chamber under certain conditions, subjecting them to damage by the striker.

Also, for anyone who's planning on getting this for youngsters, don't worry; the bore is blocked (and it appears to have been machined that way). Also, I don't think this is properly chambered for any modern caliber of ammunition. It should be A-OK for the younglings... with adult supervision. I wouldn't recommend brandishing this in public, though; it looks surprisingly real.

The company that ships this stuff (Netlink) is amazingly quick and efficient. The customer service lady on the phone was also very helpful, although she wasn't exactly sure if 22-001 worked with this item. These folks have such an extensive inventory, I'm guessing it would be difficult to know every little minute detail; so no biggie. I did ultimately discover that 22-001 does work with this revolver, and that would be my recommendation to those of you who are interested.

Anyway, sorry for the long-winded review. Bottom line, it's not 100% perfect, but I am very, VERY pleased with my purchase. I think there's a more than decent chance that I might end up giving Replica Weaponry my business in the future. Kudos, all! :D

God bless,
